Eat Foods to be Healthy, Not to Lose Weight

 


 

 

 Lately, I have been reading social media posts from friends who want to lose weight. They are posting online hoping others will leave comments as to what foods are best to achieve that. They receive plenty of suggestions. Some are good.

It bothers me that our society is fixated on losing weight instead of wanting to eat healthy just for the sake of wanting to be as healthy as possible. There are plenty of businesses who make millions of dollars off those of us who believe their sales pitch. I could name them but I think we know who they are. Dieting is big business. Telling us, especially women, what we should look like and our society's definition of what beauty looks like unattainable. 

All of us come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. Diversity is good. We are all beautiful. Each of us has value. Stop listening to advertisements from companies who do not care about you. They only care about making more and more money.

My suggestion is to eat less processed foods. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables that are in season. Eat organic. Yes, organic costs more but it is cheaper than the processed foods on the shelf. There are hundreds of videos that show you how to cook fresh food. It doesn't take that long to make. You can plan ahead. 

Supplements are also important. Buy from reputable sources, online and in stores. I always read reviews before I buy anything new. Right now, I buy online from i-herb. (They are not paying me to promote them. I like the company and I save money buying from them).

Your body is your temple. Treat it with respect. You are worth it. Eat healthy to be as healthy as possible.
